Devizes is the most central town in Wiltshire, sitting roughly equidistant from Bath, Swindon, and Salisbury. The Kennet and Avon Canal runs through the town, and the market square is one of the finest in the county.

The Peppermill Hotel itself is a remarkable building. Originally a coaching inn dating from 1538, it has been lovingly restored and now operates as a five-star boutique hotel with 16 beautifully appointed rooms. It holds a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award and has maintained a 5-gold-star AA rating for accommodation for nine years.

Quercus is the hotel's on-site restaurant, serving brunch, lunch, and dinner to both guests and visitors from the town and surrounding area.

Is Quercus Devizes suitable for hotel guests at The Peppermill?

Absolutely. Quercus is The Peppermill's on-site restaurant, and we'd love to welcome you for dinner as part of your stay. We recommend booking your table when you book your room, particularly on Thursday to Saturday evenings.

Can I visit Quercus without staying at the hotel?

Yes, of course. Quercus Devizes is open to everyone - hotel guests and visitors alike. Just book a table as normal via Dishcult or give us a call.

Are dogs welcome?

Small, well-behaved dogs are welcome during daytime service. We're unable to accommodate dogs during evening dinner service.

Can I book a large group?

The mains were very good, especially the sage and butternut risotto which had a great flavour. The desserts were very good and a great end to a good meal. The wine selection offered a nice variety of interesting wines The service was relaxed and balanced. Every establishment has their own unique approach. This is one of them. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were absolutely fantastic — friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming. The décor is really nicely done too, creating a relaxed and stylish setting without feeling pretentious. A great addition to Devizes and somewhere we’ll definitely be returning to. First time coming to Quercus as we were in Devizes and noticed it had replaced the Peppermill Restaurant, so had a quick look on Google to see what the menu was like and immediately saw the Full Scottish Breakfast, so headed straight on over to get some much needed  tattie scones and black pudding! Unfortunately I must have mistaken the menu for their other branch in Wootton Bassett, so no Scottish Breakfast on the Devizes menu! 😭😭😭 We decided to go with the Quercus Breakfast as we were starving at this point. Happy to say that it was a good alternative, very tasty and good size portion for £15 The restaurant was quiet and I think we were the only table but it was just after 11am. The gent that served us was friendly and accommodating. Definitely interested in coming back and trying the Steak Tuesday special.

I was so fortunate to meet Rob, his wife and the staff at Quercus were incredibly kind and helpful 🤍 They provided exceptional service for my birthday. The decor, food, and service were all top-notch 10 out of 10. All of our guests raved about the food, service, and atmosphere. You guys are amazing. Thank you for the excellent service. Myself and my mother visit the one in Royal Wootton Basset and coming to the Devizes one I can tell you; they still have the best darn food I've ever had! Wonderful brunch items, great mains and great drinks too (try the Scottish Breakfast for sure and the Lemon Posset is to die for!)! The place is beautiful, it's got multiple private rooms and a garden too, as well as the main room, looks great for work functions and other gatherings, and the overall feel of the place is relaxed, cosy and yet still refined. The staff are just as good as the food, you go in, you immediately feel welcomed and taken care of. Seriously, go to this place, treat yourself, you will -not- be disappointed.

I took my wife here for her birthday,  on 2/5/2026, and all I can say is the food was superb (12hr shin of beef) the nana's shortbread was simply sublime.  Our server (Megan) was very tentative, polite and friendly.  Would we go again, absolutely.
