The Quercus Approach

Locally sourced, reared and grown produce. Carefully prepared and exquisitely served.

In Royal Wootton Bassett we are at the centre of a network of local farms, offering ethically reared meat and sustainable produce. At Quercus, we plan our monthly menus around seasonal availability in cooperation with suppliers based within 10 miles, including Truffle Hunter in South Cerney, Rouselands Farm in Brinkworth and Brinkworth Wild Venison. Wiltshire is a long way from Paris, but at Quercus we’re inspired by the cooking and ethos of French bistros, offering exquisitely prepared favourites like steak frites, wild mushroom ragu and chicken supreme in a relaxed setting. Our dishes are designed to pair with bottles from our ever-changing wine list, proudly displayed on our bespoke wine wall. This adds a dramatic backdrop to special evening meals and leisurely brunches alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there car parking available?
Yes, we have our own car park, which is free for our customers.

When you arrive, you will need to book your car into our system to avoid receiving any parking charges.

The car park is just off the High Street on Station Road. It's well-lit and under 24-hour CCTV surveillance. Parking is, however, at the owner's risk.

We have three 22Kw electric vehicle charging points available for use, which, at the time of writing this, are the cheapest charging points in the town.
Are you dog friendly?
We love our four-legged friends, and are keen to strike a balance that suits all our visitors. The challenge we have is that space is limited and not everyone enjoys having doggo at an adjacent table to them.

During the mornings and for our afternoon service, small, well-behaved dogs will be welcome in the casual seating area of the bistro (Chesterfield sofas by the window). If the casual seating area is already occupied, the alternative we'll offer will be the tables outside.

During our evening dinner service, we are unable to accommodate dogs.
Why are you called Quercus?

Quercus is Latin for 'oak'. The site on which we occupy was formerly The Royal Oak Hotel and was, for a short while, the premier hotel / Inn in Wootton Bassett. After falling into disrepair, the majority of The Royal Oak was demolished in the early 1970s to make way for a supermarket.

The four businesses that now operate on the site of the former Royal Oak all have oak-related logos - Old Bank Antiques, RWB Auctions, The View Gallery and of course, Quercus!
