Royal Wootton Bassett is one of Wiltshire's most characterful market towns, sitting just off the M4 between Swindon and Chippenham. The High Street has been at the heart of the town for centuries, and Quercus sits right at its centre.

The site itself has a remarkable history. Quercus occupies part of the former Royal Oak Hotel - once the premier inn of Wootton Bassett, before falling into disrepair and being largely demolished in the early 1970s. The name Quercus, Latin for oak, is a nod to that heritage.

Our menus are built around suppliers based within 10 miles of the bistro - including Truffle Hunter in South Cerney, Rouselands Farm in Brinkworth, and Brinkworth Wild Venison. Dishes change monthly, planned around what's at its best.

Browsing before or after your visit? RWB Auctions holds regular auction sales on the same site - it's well worth a look.

The Quercus Approach

Locally sourced, reared and grown produce. Carefully prepared and simply served.

Locally sourced, reared and grown produce. Carefully prepared and simply served. Our Royal Wootton Bassett kitchen takes its inspiration from the French bistro tradition - classics like steak frites, wild mushroom ragu, and chicken supreme, served in a relaxed setting where the food does the talking. Every dish is designed to pair with something from our ever-changing wine list, displayed on our bespoke wine wall.

Wine List & Bottle Shop

Quality Wines

Our wine list is chosen with real care - every bottle selected because it's genuinely worth drinking, not just because it fills a gap on the shelf. We keep things interesting, with a list that changes regularly and covers everything from easy weeknight drinking to something a bit more special.

Memorable delicious dishes and wines for all friends
