The Quercus Approach

Locally sourced, reared and grown produce. Carefully prepared and simply served.

In Royal Wootton Bassett, we're at the centre of a network of local farms offering ethically reared meat and sustainable seasonal produce. Our menus change monthly, planned around what's at its best - working with suppliers based within 10 miles, including Truffle Hunter in South Cerney, Rouselands Farm in Brinkworth, and Brinkworth Wild Venison. Wiltshire is a long way from Paris, but the cooking and ethos of French bistros has always inspired us. Classics like steak frites, wild mushroom ragu, and chicken supreme, served in a relaxed setting where the food does the talking. Every dish is designed to pair with something from our ever-changing wine list, displayed on our bespoke wine wall - the perfect backdrop for a special evening or a leisurely weekend brunch.

Wine List & Bottle Shop

Quality wines

Our wine list is chosen with real care - every bottle selected because it's genuinely worth drinking, not just because it fills a gap on the shelf. We keep things interesting, with a list that changes regularly and covers everything from easy weeknight drinking to something a bit more special.

Memorable delicious dishes and wines for all friends

Wine tasting

We host regular wine tasting evenings - a relaxed way to try something new, learn a little, and enjoy good company. Keep an eye on our social pages for upcoming dates.
Bottle shop

Enjoyed something at dinner? Take a bottle home. Our bottle shop carries a carefully chosen selection of wines available to buy and take away - the same quality you'd expect at the table.

Yes, we have our own car park, which is free for our customers.

When you arrive, you will need to book your car into our system to avoid receiving any parking charges.

The car park is just off the High Street on Station Road. It's well-lit and under 24-hour CCTV surveillance. Parking is, however, at the owner's risk.

We love our four-legged friends, and are keen to strike a balance that suits all our visitors.

During daytime service, small, well-behaved dogs will be welcome.

During our evening dinner service, we are unable to accommodate dogs.
Why are you called Quercus?

Quercus is Latin for 'oak'. The site on which we occupy was formerly The Royal Oak Hotel and was, for a short while, the premier hotel / Inn in Wootton Bassett. After falling into disrepair, the majority of The Royal Oak was demolished in the early 1970s to make way for a supermarket.

The four businesses that now operate on the site of the former Royal Oak all have oak-related logos - Old Bank Antiques, RWB Auctions, The View Gallery and of course, Quercus!
